The Storms of Fate

A brave face worn for all other
But
When the darkness spreads itself over, under
And in the cracks between day and
Becomes night
That face is lost
Gone
Disappeared
Replaced by the fragility
Of a thousand babies lying in a parched desert
Crying for mothers who aren’t there
Waiting for a flood of water to bring freedom like
The tears of wounds buried in the gutters of
Lost cities once
Found to be beautiful but now
Overcome by immense clouds
Clouds that once stood high
Covered mountains
Brought shade
Rain
Laughter
Sunshine
Now that light creeps
Its way over, under and
In the cracks between night and
Becomes day
Now that face is back
Brave and proud
Walking to a future unbeknownst
To the beholder of Fate.
