Les Rêves Canadiens

    Under The Porch

        Dark like that one night
Under the porch there was no light
I came to you but you never noticed
Or if you did you didn't care
And you pretended I wasn't even there

        I reached out to you
        My arms extended
My spirit and yours are now being blended
You go on sleeping like a baby with no cares
Under a porch with no stairs

How did you end up this way?
Under a porch with no blanket you lay
        You're shivering
        Oh poor baby, you're quivering
No one to keep you warm

I would do something but I cannot
       I am only a spirit
       In this one fateful spot

       I can see your suffering
It's written all over your face
       If I could do something...
       I can't be displaced

So if you want to leave this world
       That's giving you much strife
And you want to live with me in the afterlife
I'm a dark angel, the angel of death
I could allow you to breathe your last breath
I could take you from this forlorn place
Under this porch of so-called grace
And bring you to the heaven you much deserve
Cause I don't want you to suffer anymore on this earth

      You open your eyes
      A strong light you see
Under the porch during the night?
      This can't be!

I tell you what you dreamt is true
And I will take you to a world anew
     You say...
Could I please come with you?
