Les Rêves Canadiens

                 WONDERING

As I watch the restless waves
            Crash in upon the shore
And silently slip out to sea
            Gone for evermore.

            I see the dancing sunbeams
            Kiss each white_capped wave goodbye
As they rush to die on rocky shores
With white foamed spray flung high.

I wander aimlessly along the dunes
            Bleached by the midday sun
I hear the piercing sea_gull cry
As it dives into the foam.

I wonder what the master plan
            For the universe can be
Then another wave rushes up on shore
            And slips into the sea.
