Inner Mongolia
Past the vast
expanse of verdant land
I saw the slightly rolling
terrain of arid earth
of land with no rain.
Inner where the air
is thinner
Mongolia
Mongolia.
The train chugged along
at less than warp speed
I rode at that pace
Content, just to feed
Off the same, the same
tan horizon
golden hues.
Mongolias
Mongolia.
And peasants lolling,
nothing to lose.
When at last I saw grass
and water I cried.
They said Inner Mongolia
was exotic.
They lied.
