INVERSION
The serpent charmed the bird
Reptile stare pinning falcon to the earth;
Amber venom froze her predatory heart.
The bright and high of her domain
enraptured his chill soul
The boldness of her plumage pleased his eye.
He had her hold her talons in at will
Through lustful admiration of her skill.
Wound round her neck
he reached to touch the sky:
Weighted so deep,
she couldnt get that high.
She tried to slip from his embrace
To leave his narrow trap
Return to sun and wind and space
Defeated by his grasp.
Her hunters cunning slowly came:
She told him she had set him free.
His view inversed, he lost the game.
He slid back to his shadowed home,
His lady falcon rose
to meet the Blue, alone.
