Cocoon
our love is a drop of water falling
a cube of ice in a glass of gin
a puff of smoke
like the mist of my breathe on a cold night
reflecting the light of eternal stars
as it fades into the void
our love is the flight of the sun
from dawn to dusk
darkness to darkness
like a meteor streaking across the horizon
never seen if we blink
or look the other way
our love is a flake of snow
landing on my warm hand
never my possession
like a moonbeam i can not catch
and hold it glowing
through my fingers
our love is a cut rose
a candle burning
a memory fading
like the last dance of a fish on dry land
or
if heaven be kind
an egg hatching
a cocoon
