Angelica Size: 28 x 34
Medium: oil on canvas (sold)
Angelica is a young woman from the pacific coastal town of Monterrico. She lives with her four children and mostly drunken husband in the back of the funeral parlour which she runs and owns. She goes and prepares the dead at any time of the day or night, (its a very small village, so business is slow!). She also cooks for her little tienda out front and generally does what she can to survive: washes clothes, sells chicken and shrimp and baby-sits her neighbors children. The child she is holding is now orphaned because his father killed the mother and subsequently got killed himself in a knife fight. Part of life on the coast.
