Antigua Guatemala is full of ruins of churches, cathedrals, monasteries and various government buildings that were destroyed in earthquakes.
The people who walk past them today are probably no better off than when these buildings were whole.
The lady carrying a gasoline container on her head is a typical sight. Gone are the traditional clothes which are so costly to make but she still retains her apron which are generally very elaborate, made from synthetic fabrics and are worn proudly on the street.
