In the tribes of the primative world the wounded (usually by birth) take up the task of healer. This gives a place to what our society labels the misfits.
I chose the searing red for that quality of heat that deep intense pain has. There is also the fetal curl in his garment showing the life long pain that lets a person like this understand suffering.
